Mitzpe Orit – a crazy lookout point
WAZE: Mitzpe Orit lookout point
On road 458, near road 1 close to the Dead Sea. Right at the entrance to the settlement of Alon, near Kfar Adumim and near Nahal Perat
A stop on the way
For anyone passing through the area of the northern Dead Sea on Highway 1 and wants to stop for a few moments in front of a gorgeous view. Mostly groups of motorcycles or sports cars that pass on road 458 – some say it is the most beautiful road in Israel.
Mitzpe Orit is a location suitable for marriage proposals – I have friends who got engaged there 🙂
In memory of Orit
At the lookout point deck there is a commemorative corner in memory of the late Orit Segal, who was a resident of the settlement near Alon and died at a young age from a serious illness. Instead of a half-threshing sitting area made of rocks and next to it a song is engraved in the rock.
Animals in the northern Dead Sea region
The area north of the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert is full of wild animals. If you arrive early in the morning and look carefully to the sides and quietly, you may notice the tiny Negev deer walking around you. If you raise your head high, you may see the biblical eagle – oversized and hawk-like. There is a nice desert trail following the desert animals that is highly recommended.
