The Majrasa Nature Reserve is one of the most impressive nature reserves in Israel.

The reserve is called Majrasa or Betiha Reserve after the Betiha Valley in which it is located.

The Majrasa Reserve is located in the northeastern part of the Sea of Galilee and is based on a natural water source of the cool Daliot River.

The entire route in the reserve crosses through the water (you can also do a dry route) and takes about an hour to walk in the cool water.

The water flows in the stream constantly, surrounded by wild vegetation and stunning blooms according to seasons – oleander, large scarlet, holy petal and more.

In and around the stream you can find catfish, swamp turtles, red fritters and if you are lucky then you will get to watch crooked fibrillation.

Wet walk in Beit Saida

We arrived at the reserve with a warm recommendation from a relative who had visited there before. Since we arrived during the hot summer months, a wet and cold trail in a stream appealed to us a lot 😉.

The route is relatively short, takes about 45 minutes and for those who take the time like us – about an hour.

The route is circular and comfortable and definitely a route that is a “must” visit for all vacationers in the northeastern part of the Sea of Galilee.

The depth of the water up to one meter – reached the height of our basin and the water is very cold 🥶

At first the cold is a bit harsh, but you soon get used to it and it becomes fun.

Tips for the Majrasa Nature Reserve

Some really important things to read before going on a hike in the reserve

  1. Come with sandals – root sandals, jellyfish shoes or any other shoe that will be pleasant for walking in the water (keep in mind that there are sliding parts)
  2. Bring a change of clothes – If in the reserve you finish your trips for the day, there are showers and changing rooms (clean!) and you can change clothes and shower.
  3. Water shield for equipment – for the strict ones, we did not bring but it would definitely help if we brought a water shield with us for the phone and wallets.
  4. have a picnic in the reserve at the end of the hike – walking in the water is very hungry, so you should organize in advance on coolers with food and sit down to eat at the end of the trail in one of the organized corners of the place (don’t forget to collect the garbage after you).

In conclusion

A pleasant and calm reserve, for us it was a success.

A reserve suitable for the whole family – we traveled as a couple and had a great time and after visiting the Majrasa, we still had the strength for another nature reserve and continued on a slightly more challenging trip in another nature reserve – a Jewish nature reserve.
